Presentation
My doctoral project began in the fall of 2021 and focuses on consistency in animal welfare inspections. The research project is intradisciplinary and combines animal welfare sciences with public administration sciences. We study the people surrounding the animals - animal welfare inspectors and animal keepers. Focus is om animal welfare assessment in regulatory inspections, meaning how animal welfare regulations are interpreted and implemented in practice. The project builds upon both quantitative and qualitative data, including experimental animal welfare inspections and the development and testing of consistency-enhancing methods.
I am a veterinarian by training and graduated from the veterinary programme at SLU in 2017. After graduating, I worked as an official veterinarian at the Swedish Food Agency for a few years, around the country. As an OV, my main tasks focused on animal welfare inspections during slaughter, and I was also very interested in reindeer slaughter.
Pedagogy is close to my heart, and I teach undergraduate students in mainly animal welfare inspections, and animal welfare at transport and slaughter.
In addition to my doctoral work, I am a resident in animal welfare, ethics and legislation at the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine.
