As a PhD student at the Department of Forest Ecology and Management, forest ecology and ecophysiology lies close to my heart. I have a fascination for the processes that shape nature around us, both above- and belowground.

Presentation

Forests are always changing. Although it may not be clear while walking through it. However, perhaps the clearest marker for this change are the seedlings coming up to one day replace the existing stand. It is here the future of the forest lies. By understanding this regeneration we can not only predict but also create a future forest that can fulfil the ecosystem services that Earth requires to thrive.
My research aims to further this understanding of seedlings from an ecophysiological perspective. That is, what in the environment makes it so seedlings grow where they grow and not grow where they don't grow? This spans from the climate to the surrounding vegetation down to the seedlings themselves, and even going underground to the roots. Altogether, this research can help inform future forest management, nature conservation efforts and to create a future landscape that we can only see the traces of today.
