You will find me where fish, fisheries, and people meet in French Polynesia. I study how reef fish stocks respond to fishing and combine scientific and local knowledge to support sustainable fisheries and community-based management that considers both fish and the people who depend on them.

Presentation

I am a PhD student at the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), with a background in marine biology, fisheries science, and conservation.

Professionally active in French Polynesia, I have worked on research and conservation projects addressing the ecology, monitoring, and management of reef and lagoon fisheries. My main interests lie at the interface between fish ecology, fisheries science, and applied conservation, with a particular interest in developing scientific knowledge that can support locally relevant and sustainable fisheries management.

Research

My research focuses on the ecology and sustainable management of reef and lagoon fisheries in French Polynesia, particularly in the Tuamotu Archipelago. I investigate how knowledge of fish life-history traits, movement ecology, fisheries status, and local ecological knowledge can be integrated to better understand the vulnerability of exploited fish populations and inform fisheries management in a fisheries data-limited context.

My work combines field-based biological sampling, age and growth analyses, reproductive biology, acoustic telemetry, and data-limited stock assessment approaches. An important component of my research is also the integration of fishers' and local communities' knowledge and participation in the development of monitoring and management strategies.

Alongside my academic research, I have worked as a marine biologist and fisheries consultant in French Polynesia, contributing to fisheries monitoring, biological sampling, fish movement studies, and community-based conservation projects in collaboration with local communities, government agencies, research institutions, and conservation organizations.
