My research focuses on carbon dynamics over time and across multiple spatial scales within boreal forest ecosystems. Specifically, I aim to improve understanding of how forest management practices influence carbon stocks in forest ecosystem and HWP.

Presentation

I hold a Master of Science in Forestry (Jägmästarexamen) from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Umeå. During my studies, I developed an interest in disturbance ecology, particularly the role of forest fires in shaping boreal landscapes, as well as the historical utilization of forest resources by the sami.

As part of my academic interest, I completed an exchange semester at the University of Padova, with a focus on Alpine and Mediterranean forestry systems and river restoration. In parallel, I also study courses in industrial economics and environmental law, with particular emphasis on EU legislation and regulatory frameworks at Umeå University.

Following my degree, I was affiliated with the Future Forests research program at SLU in Umeå. This provided valuable experience in multidisciplinary research and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and researchers, contributing to a broader understanding of the role of forests in society from multiple perspectives.

Research

My current research engages with major societal challenges related to climate change mitigation. My thesis seeks to advance the empirical understanding of carbon dynamics within forest ecosystems by examining both historical trends and future projections under various scenarios. It explores potential techniques, such as Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), as well as policy interventions that may influence carbon pools and contribute to climate change mitigation.
