Presentation
I am a researcher in forest ecology and management at SLU, specializing in the interdisciplinary study of how forest environments affect human health. My work focuses on understanding the physical and psychological effects of spending time in forests and translating this knowledge into practical applications for nature- and health-based businesses, lifestyle interventions, and forest management strategies. I have also been involved in nature-based integration projects aimed at supporting the inclusion of newly arrived individuals in Nordic countries through forest and nature experiences.
Previously, I served as Vice Dean responsible for equal opportunities, promoting awareness of gender equality, equal treatment, and critical norms among staff and students at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and SLU, and supporting equitable practices in the workplace, study environment, and future professional settings.
Research
I am part of the Forest and Health research group at SLU, where we conduct interdisciplinary research and development in collaboration with medical researchers, environmental psychologists, and other experts. Our research explores the connections between forest environments and human health, addressing questions such as: Which types of forests are most beneficial for wellbeing? How do forest experiences influence physical and mental health?
I have contributed to projects such as the Nordic Nature Health Hub under the Botnia Atlantica initiative, a virtual toolbox for nature-based entrepreneurs. This work involves developing evidence-based tools on the health benefits of nature, promoting respect for natural and cultural heritage in inclusive environments, and creating opportunities for health- and nature-focused entrepreneurship.
Today a work with two Interreg Aurora projects, NatuReach and Reggae.
