Presentation
I'm a population and community ecologist interested in the role of biodiversity and ecosystem functions in sustainable crop production. I mostly work with the ecosystem function of weed seed predation and how to use it for weed control in agricultural fields.
Research
I am the principal investigator on an early-career grant from FORMAS (2024-2028), testing the extent to which ecological alternatives to weed control, such as weed seed predation, can reduce dependence on herbicides. The project is structured around three objectives:
- To advance our knowledge of the potential of weed diversity and weed seed predation, as ecological alternatives for weed control, to mitigate weed-related yield losses.
- To identify the mechanisms by which weed diversity and weed seed predation interact to reduce species growth rates and associated yield losses.
- To evaluate Swedish farmers' acceptance of ecological alternatives to weed control.
Collaborations
I also participate in the following research projects:
- ECOGAP: Contributions of ecosystem services delivered by agroecological practices to narrow gaps in yield and resource-use efficiency, Agroecology Partnership. 2026- 2030
- DIVERSOW: Increasing crop genetic DIVERSity to close the yield gap in Organic Wheat farming 2024 -2026
- Freshh. Farmer acceptable REstoration of Semi-natural Habitat to limit
Herbicides (FRESHH) 2022- 2025.
