Henrik Dellestrand is a professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Department of Economics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

‪Henrik Dellestrand‬ - ‪Google Scholar‬Dr. Henrik Dellestrand earned his Ph.D. in International Business from Uppsala University in 2010. His dissertation, which examined the role of headquarters in subsidiary activities and the factors influencing headquarters’ involvement in subsidiary projects, received multiple awards. In 2011, it was awarded the Barry M. Richman Best Thesis Award by the International Management Division at the Academy of Management Meeting, was a finalist for the Richard N. Farmer Dissertation Award at the Academy of International Business, and won third prize in the EDAMBA Doctoral Thesis Competition. Additionally, Henrik was granted a Wallander post-doctoral research scholarship by the Handelsbanken Research Foundation for his thesis work.

Before joining SLU in October 2025, Henrik served as a Professor of International Business at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University. His research focuses on multinational enterprises and the boundaries within and between organizations operating globally. He is particularly interested in the performance implications of innovations, global value chains, innovation ecosystems, digital platforms, and how different actors inside and outside firms develop and assess innovations.

Henrik has also contributed as an expert to the United Nations, specifically for the World Investment Report by UNCTAD.

Teaching

Henrik has taught courses in international business, strategic management, innovation, knowledge management, marketing, organizational behaviour, and research methods at both bachelor’s and master’s levels across Sweden, Finland, France, Portugal, and Italy.

In 2023 when working at Uppsala University, he received the Uppsala University Distinguished Teaching Award in the field of Social Sciences and Law. The award citation reads:

Dellestrand is a highly respected educator with a broad and diverse expertise. His teaching is characterized by a genuine passion for economics and a dedication to stimulating student curiosity. By seamlessly integrating theory and practice, he enables students to acquire both deep theoretical knowledge and practical, contextual understanding. His strong commitment to the discipline imparts a unique depth to his teaching, which is greatly valued by his students and has significantly contributed to the department’s ongoing development of its teaching approach."
