Pat Dumandan is an ecologist working on a VR-funded project looking into the temperature-dependence of ecological interaction networks in the Arctic.

Presentation

I am interested in exploring research ideas at the nexus of community and temporal ecology. I use data from natural experiments and long-term monitoring programs on various ecological communities in different ecosystems to understand and predict the ever-changing nature of nature.

Research

I am currently working with Tomas Roslin on a VR-funded project looking into the temperature-dependence of ecological interaction networks. In this project, I will use data collected from ecophysiological experiments on insects, transect surveys, and mesocosm set-ups in the NE and SW parts of Greenland to assess how species interactions can vary under different thermal contexts.

My previous research, as part of my PhD training, was focused on exploring the temporal dynamics of ecological communities. Using long-term datasets on desert rodents and migratory birds of prey , I assessed the role of species interactions and community structures in driving phenological patterns and variation in model transferability.
