I work with the topic on how to make the food system more sustainable through food waste prevention. To study this I develop and implement digital quantification devices to collect food waste data and to study the environmental impact i use Life Cycle Assesment.
Research
I work in several large international projects such as WASTEWISE, LOWINFOOD and BEE-GUARDS. I also work in several national projects such as PLENTY - a Centre for a Symbiotic and Circular Food Provisioning, Meals Matter! – From Data to Reduced Food Waste and Enhanced Well-being in Municipal Care, Tailored approaches to food waste prevention: context-specific measures in commercial kitchens, A service design approach to reduce food waste in the public sector, Is food waste illegal?, Reducing household food waste and Feedback as a measure for reduced food waste in households.
Environment analysis
I work with the collection and comilation of national food waste statistics within the consortium SMED.
Teaching
I am the program director for the three food science programs at SLU. This includes the Master's programme in Sustainable Food Systems, the Master's programme in Food Controle and the Agriculture and Food Science program.
I am also the course leader of Food waste - current situation and future opportunities and System and life cycle analysis.
Beside this Im also a guest lecture in several courses in different universities, and supervise master and bachelour theisis in various topics.
