Presentation
I am a PhD student in biogeochemistry and microbial ecology. I am interested in climate change research, ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, and the roles microbial communities play within these, especially in aquatic systems.
Research
My PhD project focuses on assessing the impact of current declining sulfur deposition on methane cycling in lake sediments. This drop in sulfate concentrations in Swedish surface waters may have unforeseen consequences for microbial communities and the biogeochemical processes they mediate. One area of particular concern is the unknown impacts of sulfate shortage on ecosystem-scale methanogenesis, methane oxidation, and coupled atmospheric emissions of this potent greenhouse gas.
