Research
My research is about insects and mainly on nature conservation issues in the forest, and to a lesser extent other habitats. In later years I have also been into forest pests. Some of the projects are
* Why do big pines die? We investigate the buprestid Phaenops cyaneus and associated fungi https://www.slu.se/nyheter/2024/06/mysteriet-med-de-doda-tallarna/
* Bioenergy harvest at cuttings. Which insects will have less habitat if we harvest slash and stumps from clear cuts and which categories of those are most valueble to retain to minimize the negative effects.
* The value of high stumps for saproxylic insects. High stumps are always placed at cuttings in Sweden.
* Insects in bracket fungi (Polypores).
* The value of old tree, mainly lime trees (Tilia), which are very abundant i parks.

Environment analysis
I am leading the longterm monitoring of the spruce bark beetle in Sweden. Since 1996 we measure the population size by trapping beetles and by counting the number of killed trees in forest edges.
