Vaishnavi Losari

I am Vaishnavi, a doctoral student at the Department of Plant Breeding, SLU Alnarp. My research focuses on leaf proteins in chickpea. 

My work aims to identify genetic loci associated with leaf protein content and extractability through a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using a diverse set of chickpea accessions. The findings would reveal insights into the genetic architecture influencing protein content from green biomass and facilitate the marker-assisted selection for breeding chickpea varieties with higher leaf protein content. This research will contribute to the development of chickpea varieties as intermediate crops, thereby enhancing plant-based protein sources for food and feed.
