Ola Lindroos
Presentation
The primary focus of my research is the evaluation and improvement of new innovations in forest technology, as well as the development of both existing and novel operational methods. I utilise a wide range of methodological approaches, including empirical field studies, sensor-based data analysis and theoretical computational studies of potential future concepts. My work also addresses key operational components — such as machinery and automation systems, human labour, environmental impacts, information systems, and energy flows — all typically considered from an integrated system perspective.
A particular emphasis in my research is on digitalisation and advanced analytical methods, including the use of sensor data and computational modelling to optimise operations, support decision-making, and explore automation and robotics in forestry work. This includes work on the development of intelligent systems and data-driven tools that can enhance performance, reduce environmental impacts, and improve working conditions within forest operations.
My overall objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of forest operations while safeguarding work environments and minimizing environmental impact, helping the forest sector adapt to future challenges and opportunities.
