Presentation

Julius Mugambe joins our team as a postdoctoral researcher on April 1, 2025, for a two-year appointment. He holds a PhD in Animal Breeding, Genetics, and Genomics from the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, Germany, where his doctoral research explored how genomics gives insight into German Holstein dairy cattle, with a particular emphasis on inbreeding, backfat thickness, and Beef-on-Dairy production systems.

Julius brings valuable expertise from South Korea, where he conducted genomic evaluations for carcass traits in Hanwoo beef cattle, implemented genomic selection for the Korean Native Chicken, and contributed to developing software for estimating genomic breeding values in pigs. Before his PhD, he earned a Master of Science in Animal Molecular Genomics from Chonbuk National University in South Korea.
