Lisbet Norberg works as a researcher with focus on field research of nutrient leaching losses and water quality, and greenhouse gases from agricultural soils.

Presentation

My interest is on-field research in a Swedish context with basis on the environmental impact of agriculture on water and climate, with focus on mitigation measures and maintained productivity.

Research

My research is mainly based on separately tile-drained field experiments where we investigate how cropping systems can be optimized to utilize plant nutrients in the best way and minimize the risk of nitrogen and phosphorus losses. The field experiments include cropping systems with, among other things, different tillage strategies, structure liming, manure, catch crops and organic cropping systems with and without animals. Most of these field experiments are part of the SLU Long-term Experiments.

I also work in the interface between environmental analysis and research where I use the Observation Fields' long measurement series to answer research questions.

My PhD project investigated causes and measures for reduced greenhouse gas emissions from cultivated peat soils, both through field measurements and through lab studies.

Environment analysis

I´m an administrator of two environmental monitoring programmes - Observation field on Agricultural land and Catchments in the Agricultural landscape.

Teaching

I teach basic soil science in under-graduate courses for Landscape architects, Landscape engineeres, Biologist and Agronomist (soil/plant). My main focus is on soil classification, soil texture and, soil properties and characteristics in urban, agricultural and natural soils.
