Presentation

I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal Biosciences with expertise in the field of aquaculture genetics and breeding. Over the last 15 years, I have worked with a wide range of fish species from tropical ones like tilapias to ones in the Nordics like Arctic charr. Have conducted research aiming to disentagle the underlying (epi)genetic factors behind complex traits like disease resistance ones.

Research

My research focuses on aquaculture genetics and breeding. I am particularly interested in the application of genomic technologies for studying complex traits. Have published over 45 peer-reviewed articles primarily in studies on farmed fish, studying traits like sex-determination, fertility and genetic resistance to diseases.

Teaching

I teach on various courses, mainly about selective breeding and applications of high-throughput sequencing technologies in aquaculture species.

I am course leader in the following:

- Sustainable aquaculture (HV0200)

- Designing breeding programs (HV0195)

- Introduction to Python for data science (PVG0045)
