Research

My research aims to investigate the transport and deposition of pyrogenic carbon into soils and water bodies, following prescribed fires.

In Sweden, prescribed burning is used as a forest and biodiversity management practice in nature reserves, providing an important opportunity to examine the fate and environmental dynamics of fire-derived carbon.

Pyrogenic carbon can remain in soil and sediments for centuries to millennia, making it a potentially important yet overlooked carbon sink.

The finding will contribute to a better understanding of fire–carbon interactions and the role of fire in forest ecosystem dynamics.
