Presentation

I research and teach about sustainable food systems from many different angles. My research includes assessing the environmental and social impacts of different foods, production systems and dietary patterns. Developing and modeling future scenarios on how produce food for a growing population in a sustainable way is also something I work with. I am also involved in several interdisciplinary projects where we look at economic and informative policy instruments and strategies for a more sustainable food system.

I am also engages with TABLE, a global platform for synthesizing, disseminating and discussing research about a sustainable food system.

Research

Examples of ongoing projects:

PLATE is a research centre which combines research with practice in close collaboration with key actors in the foodservice sector to explore how resilient meals can be designed and implemented. By examining existing and new ways of working, new knowledge and a scientific basis for change are built. Together we research, test and communicate. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of foodservice actors to develop their own organizations for the challenges of the future. The centre is coordinated by the Stockholm Resilience Center and I work as the Science Director of the centre.

Mistra Food Futures is a research program focusing on a sustainable and resilient food system. The program is led and coordinated by SLU in collaboration with the research institute RISE and Stockholm Resilience Center at Stockholm University. Mistra Food Futures will develop strategies that will lead to a sustainable Swedish food system that delivers healthy food. In Mistra Food Futures, I work with developing indicators and tools for measuring and monitoring the sustainability of the Swedish food system, as well as with scenario development for more sustainable food systems.
