My research focuses on developing dynamic, high-resolution soil moisture maps that capture changes in soil moisture over space and time in response to weather and environmental conditions. I use a data-driven, empirical approach that combines daily ground-based soil moisture observations with environmental variables derived from airborne laser scanning, satellite-based weather and Earth observation data, and machine-learning methods.

By analysing the drivers of soil moisture dynamics, I develop models that enable spatially and temporally dynamic soil moisture mapping. These maps provide decision support for forest planning and harvesting, helping to reduce rutting damage and minimize the environmental impact of forestry operations.
