I am a senior lecturer that work with research, teaching and supervision in the area of horse breeding and genetic evaluation of performance traits, at the Division of Genetics, Breeding, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, at the Department of Animal Biosciences, SLU.

Presentation

I graduated in Animal Science in 1999 at SLU, Uppsala. In 2010 I received my PhD from SLU, with the thesis "Genetic evaluation of Swedish Warmblood Horses".

Today I am an Associate Professor in Animal Science with a focus on breeding and genetics and a Senior Lecturer in Animal Breeding as well as in Biology and Management of the Horse.

Research

In my work, I am fortunate to be able to combine my passion for horses and for breeding programs. My research primarily involves the genetic evaluation of sport horses and the genetic evaluation of performance traits, but I am also interested in functional traits such as durability and temperament.

I am currently the main supervisor of doctoral student Sandra Bonow.

Research projects

Teaching

I teach on the subject of horse breeding in the equine science and animal science programs. I supervise students in their exam thesis on both Master and Bachelor level.

Collaborations

I have since my PhD degree been responsible for continuous research and development of the genetic evaluation methods for Swedish Warmblood (SWB), the largest horse breed in Sweden.
