I am a researcher at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment and work with the ecology of lakes and watercourses.

Research

My research covers the ecology of limnic ecosystems (especially lakes) with focus on zooplankton and phytoplankton, nutrient dynamics, ecological stoichiometry, food webs, food quality and biodiversity.

The research concerns several different applied areas such as acidification, nutrient depletion (oligotrophication), eutrophication, hydropower regulation and climate change.

Environment analysis

I am involved in environmental monitoring and assessment at SLU:

  • Deputy coordinator for the environmental monitoring and assessment program Acidification at SLU (2025– )
  • Scientific project manager for the program Integrated studies of the effects of liming acidified waters (IKEU) commissioned by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) (2009– ), as well as other assignments for HaV within the area of acidification.
  • Scientifically responsible for the zooplankton analyses at the Biodiversity Laboratory, Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, SLU.

Teaching

Education is close to my heart, but I am not currently teaching.

Current assignment:

  • Member of the program council for the Agronomy program, soil and plant and the master's program Soil Water and Environment (2025– )

Previous assignments/activities:

  • Program director for the master's program, EnvEuro (2015–2022)
  • Program director for the bachelor's program, Biology and Environmental Science (2016–2022)
  • Course coordinator for the course Environmental Assessment, 7.5 credits (2018–2020)
  • Previous (1992–2020) teaching on many other courses in the areas of Environmental Science, Environmental Assessment, Limnology and Ecology
