Presentation
I have a background in Biology and work with research and education in Ethology and Animal welfare. My main research area has been in development of different behaviours, cognitive abilities and measures of emotional states in laying hens. I have also worked with more applied research around transport of turkeys and investigations in how different factors related to housing systems affect animals and their ability to perform certain behaviours and the consequences this has on their welfare.
Research
I am currently working with the research project "Toilet training: an innovative approach towards increased welfare and sustainability of dairy farming"
Previous research on potty training in cows has shown that calves can associate a place with urination early on. We want to take this research further and extend training to both urination and defecation as well as solutions that are long-term sustainable and practically applicable under commercial conditions.
I also participate in the research project "Improving honeybee welfare and protection" that is led by Barbara Locke Grandér at the Department of Ecology, SLU.
