I studied biology at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Copenhagen, where I developed a strong interest in a particular fly species: the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens). That passion led me to my current role at SLU, where I manage and maintain our fly farm. Black soldier flies are playing an increasingly important role in research on sustainable waste management and as a source of protein for livestock. I am part of a range of projects that explore the potential, limitations, and future applications of this species. My work focuses on keeping the farm healthy, productive, and ready to contribute to science.
