At SLU, we want to support your lifelong learning – whether you need new knowledge for your work or are driven by your own curiosity. If you are not looking to study a full programme, there are other options available!

Online courses

Online courses are available to everyone and offer an unlimited number of places. They usually do not require any prior knowledge and are free of charge. No advance registration is needed, and you can start your course at SLU today.

Stand-alone courses

Most courses at SLU require a certain number of higher education credits within a specific subject area, while some only require upper-secondary qualifications. The syllabus specifies the prior qualifications needed for the course you are interested in.

To find out whether you meet the entry requirements for a course, you compare your grades with the eligibility requirements stated for that course. You can read more about eligibility and related topics on the page Frequently Asked Questions.

All courses offered at SLU are listed on the Student Web.

Contract education

In short, contract education refers to courses that universities or higher education institutions provide on behalf of legal entities, such as companies, public authorities or organisations. In most cases, this means that an employer commissions a tailor-made course for its staff. The commissioning organisation finances the course, which must be offered on a full cost-recovery basis.

Types of contract education

  • Tailor-made courses, when the client requests a specific content.
  • Places in existing courses, where participants study alongside our students.
  • Open-enrolment courses, developed by SLU for which different employers can register their staff. These courses are not part of the ordinary course offering for students but are specifically designed for professionals.
