Project aim is to develop a sustainable protein source of high value for farmed fish, based on filamentous fungi grown on residues from ethanol production.

A special emphasis during the project will be given to nutritive value of fungal biomass to farmed fish but also presence of potentially beneficial bioactive substances.

In this process, we aim to create new knowledge highly applicable to the industrial scenarios, beneficial for both the ethanol and aquaculture industries. Results will have a direct impact on both society and the ecosystem.

Project is led by SLU and Borås University in collaboration with Lantmännen Agroetanol AB

Facts:

The project is financed by The Kamprad Family Foundation and will run 2020 - 2022.
