Last changed: 26 April 2024

Char have been farmed in Sweden since the 1970s. In the beginning, it was used for stocking lakes, e.g. for the popular ice-fishing, but more recently it has been farmed mainly as a food fish. The VBCN research station in Kälarne has been the centre for the production of fingerlings.
