Max Planck Centre next Generation Insect Chemical Ecology, NGICE, is a high-level collaboration between the Max Planck Society, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU, Alnarp), and Lund University. We explore how to protect crops and trees from diseases, pests, weather damage, weeds and invasive species, and how to create healthy environments for plants. The network connects SLU researchers and external stakeholders and is a platform to share our groundbreaking plant protection research. -
SLU Risk Assessment of Plant Pests
The risk that non-indigenous plant pests establish in Sweden is increasing with climate warming and an increasing global trade. We perform independent analyses which will provide support to the Swedish Board of Agriculture in their effort to counter the damage of non-indigenous pests. The pests may be for example, insects, nematodes, mites, fungi, bacteria or virus. -
SLU Water Hub
SLU Water Hub is a unit coordinating SLU departments involved in catchment scale modelling and assessment of water quality. The focus is on developing, managing and applying models for calculation of leaching, transport, retention, and source apportionment of nitrogen and phosphorus. -

Swedish Centre for Animal Welfare, SCAW
SCAW is a center formation at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) working with animal welfare issues. We are part of national and international collaborations focusing on animal welfare. SCAW is also the National Contact Point (NCP) for slaughter and provides administrative support to the Scientific Council for Animal Welfare. -
Trees and Crops for the Future
Trees and Crops for the Future (TC4F) is a Strategic Research Area (SRA) at SLU with Umeå University and the Forestry Research Institute (SkogForsk) as collaborative partners. TC4F develops knowledge on sustainable plant production and plant-based product development with the main objective to support the development of the new circular bioeconomy in Sweden. TC4F consists of two parts, T4F focusing on trees and C4F focusing on crops. -
