Information
Doctoral studies take four years in total, finishing with a doctoral degree. It is also possible to finish after two years with a licentiate degree. About one third of the doctoral education is devoted to course work, and the rest to research. After finishing the education, the doctor can for example continue doing an academic career or do a career in the industry or within authorities.
Generally, the Department of Economics employs doctoral students starting in the autumn every other year, but sometimes at other times of the year as well. All of our doctoral students are employed (including social benefits). The positions are financed either by the Department’s research budget or by external funding.
Vacancies are advertised on SLU's webpage, so please keep an eye out if you are interested in joining our team. Doing a PhD at our Department is a fun and challenging experience, which implies being an active part of the research units at the Department.
