Machinery systems

Page reviewed:  26/03/2026

We have a long tradition of research to optimize machine systems on individual farms. Opportunity effects are an important component of this work. Opportunity effects arise when an intervention in crop production is not carried out at an optimal time, resulting in reduced yield and/or deteriorated quality. We work with both event-driven and continuous-time simulation methodologies, but also with linear programming. The choice of system for energy supply to the machines has a major impact on the design and dimensioning of the system in general. Technology for driverless (autonomous) control naturally also has a significant impact on machine systems.
