Resilience and preparedness
The department conducts research aimed at strengthening society’s food preparedness by developing scientific knowledge about the capacity of agriculture and the food system to cope with various types of crisis situations. The research includes analyses of how food supply is affected by disruptions such as war, climate-related extreme weather events, trade interruptions, or other systemic shocks. The work involves the development of indicators to measure and monitor the preparedness capacity of agriculture, as well as modelling of different supply scenarios that illustrate how food availability can be ensured under changing conditions. This research provides decision support for planning and governance of the agricultural sector in an uncertain future, with the goal of increasing the resilience of Sweden’s food system.
