We conduct research in life cycle assessment (LCA) to better understand and reduce food waste and food losses. By using LCA, we analyze how different measures and systems affect the environment, including climate impact, resource use, and ecosystem effects.

The research focuses on integrating sustainability aspects into food production and consumption. This means evaluating both environmental and social factors to identify effective strategies that can reduce food waste throughout the entire food supply chain, such as through food donations.

An important area of study is how by-products from food production can be utilized more efficiently instead of being wasted. By combining life cycle assessment with other sustainability tools, the research contributes to the development of more resource-efficient and sustainable food systems.
