Education

With us, you can take undergraduate and doctoral courses within our various subject areas. You are welcome to contact us if you are interested in carrying out your bachelor’s or master’s thesis in subjects such as Remote Sensing and GIS, Forest Inventory, Forest Planning, Mathematical Statistics, or Organization and Leadership.

We are also responsible for the activities at the Ljungberg Laboratory.

Research

Our work is built on research in five key subject areas, where we combine specialized expertise with interdisciplinary projects. These areas form the foundation of our research, which aims to actively support the development of both the forestry sector and society as a whole. At the same time, we seek to maintain strong international competitiveness in each research area.

Environmental analysis

Environmental analysis is a major part of our work. It involves continuously monitoring changes in the environment and providing data to support sustainable use.

Other areas of responsibility

We also offer SLU staff statistical consulting and support in the use of GIS and geographic information.

Collaboration

We work closely with authorities and organizations such as the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the EU, and the Swedish Forest Agency. Our  annual report provides an overview of our activities and publications.

Environmental Certification

The department was the first at SLU to receive environmental certification in 2004. Today, all SLU operations are covered by ISO 14001.
