Forest Planning

Forest planning refers to the process that generates information on how forests should be managed in order to meet the objectives of landowners, stakeholders, or society at large. We develop methodologies that can be applied in this process, thereby contributing to the sustainable use of forest resources with respect to economic, ecological, and social values. These methods are also used to address questions concerning the future development of the forest landscape.

Research

Our research addresses planning problems from multiple perspectives – from individual forest owners and companies to the societal level. Goal-oriented management, collaboration, and future analyses are at the core of our work.

Education

Forest planning is a distinctly synthetic discipline that, to varying degrees, builds on many other forest science subjects. In this way, our courses connect and integrate different concepts and perspectives on forests.

Contact

We strive to be a natural partner in the forest sector’s efforts toward sustainable forestry.
