Minority Tree Species focuses on the conservation and restoration of rare and threatened tree species. The conference will explore how these species can be protected, how their habitats can be restored, and how their unique genetic and evolutionary traits can help make forests more resilient to climate change.

About the conference
The 2027 conference will take place in Aalborg, Denmark, from 24–27 May. The programme will include keynote and contributed presentations, poster sessions, discussions, and two field excursions focusing on rare and alternative tree species, climate-smart afforestation, assisted migration, and forest restoration. The conference language is English. The conference is organised by the Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre at SLU together with partners from Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
