At the Division of Political Science and Natural Resource Governance, research, education, communication, and collaboration are conducted in several different fields, all united by a common interest in how society addresses and manages the challenges posed by environmental and sustainability issues.

Researchers, analysts, and environmental advisors work here, and the activities span many areas within both natural and social sciences.

The division is home to the SLU Swedish Biodiversity Centre (CBM) – a national center conducting research, collaboration, expert analyses, and information activities related to biodiversity.

In addition, the division hosts the Unit for Environmental Integration that works for an increased environmental integration in various sectors in society and participates in the education and research projects at the department. The unit manages Sida’s Helpdesk for Environment and Climate Change - a collaboration between Sida (The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), SLU, and the University of Gothenburg. Its purpose is to support the integration of environmental issues into Swedish development cooperation.

The division also includes the subject of Political science and a research group that is currently being established. A professorship in Environmental Policy and Environmental Governance has been announced.
