30 years in the service of biodiversity

Page reviewed:  10/04/2025

This year marks thirty years since CBM began operations. We will be celebrating this in various ways throughout the year, including an anniversary symposium on October 1st.

Celebrate with us!

On October 1, 1995, Urban Emanuelsson started his assignement as director of the then relatively newly established unit, Swedish Biodiversity Centre (CBM) at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. CBM was the result of a government decision based on Sweden's signing of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and a direct assignment to SLU and Uppsala University.

During these three decades with biodiversity at the center, a variety of different projects and initiatives have been implemented within the framework of CBM's mission. Some were temporary efforts while others have continued for a long time. The goal has always been to develop and be guided by the needs of society and biodiversity.

Anniversary Symposium 1/10

Welcome to our anniversary symposium on October 1! During an afternoon, we will listen to speakers who remember how things were, and those who look to the future. Which issues are relevant, and which should be?

Time: October 1, at 13-15.
Location: Loftets hörsal, SLU Ultuna, Uppsala.

Registration opens in August.

Anniversary publication

In connection with the symposium on October 1, we will publish an anniversary publication about CBM and its activities.
