Call for seed funding
SLU Future One Health is announcing seed funding to support One Health research applications. The deadline for applications is 17 March. We look forward to receiving your application!
Seed funding to support One Health research proposals
The aim of the call is to support SLU researchers in developing interdisciplinary research proposals within One Health. Such proposals should take a holistic and innovative approach to complex One Health questions of major importance for future sustainable life, where collaboration across scientific disciplines is needed. At SLU, research linking animal health, plant health, human health and environmental health typically fall within the One health definition.
SLU Future One Health will fund activities such as pilot studies, feasibility studies, literature reviews, consortium meetings or consults (illustrators, communicators, mentors) used to improve interdisciplinary research proposals to be submitted to relevant funding bodies (e.g. Formas, VR, Forte, EU Horizon or other).
The application must result in the submission of an interdisciplinary One Health (clearly involving at least three of the four aspects animal, plant, human and environmental health) research proposal by the end of 2027. Including the environmental health aspect will be seen as a merit. The submitted research proposal must involve more than one SLU faculty and include some salary for SLU staff (preferably at PhD or post doc level).

The call is open to all SLU researchers.
How much can you apply for?

Assessment
The proposals will be evaluated by the platform steering group which includes representatives from all SLU faculties. Any conflict of interest within the steering group will be handled according to SLU guidelines.
Both the initial activity for which funding is sought (“activity”) and the conceptual outline of the planned interdisciplinary One Health research proposal (“proposal”) will be assessed. Only applications meeting the formal requirements listed in this call and including a clear description for how the initial activity will benefit the development of the planned research proposal will be evaluated.
Assessment criteria include:
• Feasibility and quality of the initial activity.
• Scientific excellence of the research proposal concept.
• Potential for success of the research proposal.
• How well the research proposal relates to the different One Health aspects included and how clearly the link between the activity and the research proposal’s One Health dimensions is outlined.
