Susanna Sternberg Lewerin is SLU's new professor in One Health and Antimicrobial resistance. She shares her plans and visions for her new role.

Congratulations Susanna!  You will be appointed the new professorship within One Health and Antimicrobial resistance starting 1 December this year.

“I’m happy and honoured to have been given this opportunity, I look forward to be able to focus on AMR in research, teaching and other work”, says Susanna Sternberg Lewerin, professor at the Department of Animal Biosciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU)

What are your plans in your role?

“In addition to several research ideas, and plans for obtaining funding for PhDs and postdocs to convene a research group, I want to explore collaborations with SLU’s environmental assessment programmes and researchers working with AMR and the environment and with plant health. I will also look into where I can contribute more widely to SLU’s education activities, as AMR is relevant for the teaching programmes in all faculties.”

What are your visions and what do you hope to achieve?

“I want to bring SLU’s AMR research fully into the One Health concept, to bridge different research groups so that we can address this complex challenge on systems’ level. I also want to put SLU’s One health research more firmly on the national and global map, opening up for wider research collaborations and facilitating impact from our research.”
