Regional hubs

Page reviewed:  03/06/2025

SLU Urban Futures has three regional hubs in Ultuna, Alnarp, and Umeå. The hubs anchor the platform physically at SLU's three main campuses and create opportunities for collaboration between faculties and with societal actors in the three regions.

Focus on regional cooperation

The three regional hubs serve as a point of contact for both internal and external collaborations in their respective regions. The aim is to strengthen SLU's role as a relevant partner in the field of sustainable urbanization and transition.

By promoting joint activities such as seminars and workshops, the hubs work to promote open dialogue, shared expertise, experience, and learning on issues related to urban transition and the complexity that this entails.

The meeting between research and practice through regional collaboration brings mutual benefits for both SLU and societal actors. While partners gain access to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research at SLU, societal actors can contribute to the research with challenges and issues encountered in practice, which in turn can help contextualize knowledge about sustainable development. The focus on regional collaboration can thus support projects that have a positive impact in the hub regions.
