The overall aim of this project is to train higher education institutions graduate students and professionals in Central and Eastern Africa to address the challenges of climate change and develop innovative, sustainable and climate-smart agrifood systems that enhance food security, livelihoods, and environmental resilience in the region.

This mobility project is expected to contribute to:

1. Promoting inclusive academic mobility and partnerships between Higher Education Institutions / Universities (HEI) and Research Institutions to address key challenges in developing climate-smart agrifood systems.
2. Developing or strengthening curriculum on climate-smart agrifood systems in HEIs.
3. Strengthening climate data and information systems using digital tools.

• The project will provide scholarship for full degree programmes (PhD and MSc) as well as short term mobility for students and staff between 2024 to 2028. A total of 26 Masters, 8 PhDs, will be trained in the thematic areas of climate smart agriculture, agriculture and rural innovations, dryland agriculture, livestock production systems, plant breeding and seed systems, food security and artificial intelligence.
  
  
• Coordinated by Dschang University, Cameroon and partnering with Egerton University, Kenya; Makerere University and Bishop Stuart University, Uganda; University of Kinshasa, Republic of DR Congo and Haramaya University, Ethiopia. Technical partner is SLU and associated partners are Ruforum and Forum for Women Vice-Chancellors in Africa. 

• This project is an initiative funded by Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme - MOBAF. This is EU's programme to encourage international learning mobility across the African continent. The programme provides support for consortia of African Higher Education Institutions and scholarship opportunities for African trainees, students and staff. The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is part of the Youth Mobility for Africa flagship initiative which aims to support learning opportunities, exchanges and ultimately to promote Africa as an attractive study destination.  The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) manages the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme through the financial instrument of The Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe (NDICI - Global Europe) on behalf of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships.
