TRACEEP - Transforming Water-based Climate Education through Exchange and Partnership

The programme is coordinated by the Institute for Water Research (IWR) at Rhodes University, a leading centre of excellence in water-related research and postgraduate training, and is implemented in partnership with universities across Africa and at SLU as European partner.

Through full mobility scholarships, selected students will relocate to a partner institution in another country, where they will:

• undertake advanced postgraduate study,

• conduct context-relevant, high-impact research,

• and become part of a vibrant, pan-African and international academic network.

TRACEEP brings together diverse water, climate, and development perspectives, supporting students to learn across contexts, engage with real-world challenges, and contribute to more climate-resilient and just water futures.

Funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the African Union, TRACEEP reflects a shared commitment to equitable, globally connected climate education.

Université Cheikh Anta Dop de Dakar, Senegal,

Univeristy of Kinshasa, D.R. Congo,

Swedish Univeristy of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden

This project is an initiative within the framework of Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme - MOBAF. This is EU's programme to encourage international learning mobility across the African continent. The programme provides support for consortia of African Higher Education Institutions and scholarship opportunities for African trainees, students and staff.

The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is part of the Youth Mobility for Africa flagship initiative which aims to support learning opportunities, exchanges and ultimately to promote Africa as an attractive study destination. 

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) manages the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme through the financial instrument of The Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe (NDICI - Global Europe) on behalf of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships.
