SLU Forage Availability Maps
Metadata
Graf, L. et al. (2025) “SLU Forage Availability Maps.” Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. doi:10.5878/63mq-rq08.
This dataset contains SLU's maps of the availability of forage. The maps show the expected abundance of pine (Pinus sylvestris), rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), oak (Quercus spp.), goat willow (Salix caprea), aspen (Populus tremula), and birch (Betula spp.) in the size range 10 cm high to 4 cm in diameter at breast height.
The dataset includes 12 raster files (tif): six different species and two aggregation levels (1 ha and 1 km2). The maps show the average number of trees estimated per spatial unit.
The models have been created using data from the National Forest Inventory and remote sensing data.
For more information on the development of this dataset, see the article: Mapping cervid forage in Sweden using remote sensing and national forest inventory data.
