The dataset contains information on 30 different agricultural fields and their soil properties, such as saturated permeability and porosity, and comes from the environmental monitoring programme Soil Compaction.

The programme, which started in 2003, examines soil compaction in the subsoil, i.e. the lower layer of the soil. Since 2008, measurements have also been taken in the topsoil, i.e. the soil layer at a depth of around 0-20 centimetres. In addition to the parameters measured in the subsoil, aggregate stability and the risk of phosphorus losses are also determined.

The 30 sampling sites are surveyed at six-year intervals, i.e. five sampling sites are sampled annually. The sampling sites represent the most important soil types and farming systems in the major agricultural areas of Sweden. The physical parameters determined are the soil's saturated permeability, dry bulk density, porosity, proportion of water-filled pores, and soil penetration resistance.
