SLU Movium and SLU Urban Futures launch new report series

News published:  20/08/2026

SLU Movium and SLU Urban Futures are launching the new report series Cities and Landscapes. The aim is to make knowledge about cities, landscapes, and the relationships between urban and rural areas more accessible and widely disseminated.

Cities and Landscapes is open to researchers and teaching staff at SLU who wish to publish reports related to cities, landscapes, and societal development. The reports are aimed at a range of audiences, including researchers, practitioners, teachers, and students.

– With this report series, we want to create a platform where researchers from different parts of SLU can come together around shared questions, says Karin Montgomery, editor of Cities and Landscapes.

In addition to research findings, the reports may cover project outcomes, pilot projects, or preliminary studies.

– We welcome joint publications involving researchers from SLU and other universites, as well as practitioners, says Karin Montgomery.

The new report series provides a platform for disseminating research-based knowledge and strengthening exchange between academia and practice. The series will be published in both Swedish and English.

Inclusive cycling mobility in Uppsala

The first researcher to publish in the series is Daniel Valentini, a researcher at SLU. In his report Inclusive Cycling Mobility in Uppsala (Inkluderande cykelmobilitet i Uppsala), he examines how assisted cycling services can contribute to quality of life and well-being for people who are unable to cycle independently. The study is based, among other things, on survey responses and interviews with passengers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers. By highlighting the perspectives of older people from a mobility perspective, the project offers new insights into the qualities of urban environments.

– The results show that assisted cycling trips have positive effects for everyone involved, while there is also potential to develop the service and make use of existing resources to enable more people to experience cycling, says Daniel Valentini.

The study was carried out in collaboration with the organisations Cykling utan ålder, the Swedish Red Cross in Uppsala, and Uppsala Municipality.
