Research

I am an ecologist with a strong interest in biodiversity and wildlife ecology. My research deals with how forest management influences the delivery of ecosystem services.

I am highly interested in plant-animal interactions and nutritional ecology, particularly in how plant traits allow them to cope with herbivory (and other stressors) and how these defensive responses influence their nutritional quality.

In previous projects I have studied how forest stand structure shapes the abundance, growth and nutritional quality of ericaceous shrubs in the forest understory, which are important foraging items for cervids.

I am currently working in a project investigating how alternative forest management practices can promote the delivery of important ecosystem services, including biodiversity and forage for game species, that have been identified of high value by forest owners.
