Doctoral student investigating the effects of forest restoration on patterns of zoonotic disease in small mammals.

Presentation

I am a doctoral student specialising in the links between zoonotic disease, small-mammal communities and biodiversity in the context of forest restoration. Coming from a Swedish forest-owning family myself, the ecological consequences of different forest management decisions is an issue close to my heart. This work builds on previous research experience in ecotoxicology and disease- and population ecology from diverse ecosystems in Sweden, Borneo, Iceland, Scotland and Brazil. I aim to show the bidirectional relationships between humans and the natural systems that surround us, and how actions such as pollutionand  forest management can indirectly impact zoonotic host communities and human health in unintended ways.
