Short summary

The project "AfricanYouth4Forests" (AY4F) represents a dynamic intersection between Africa's forest resources and its young population.

Equipped with passion, digital savviness, and respect for nature, the youth are charting a path where their understanding of the earth's value, paired with a contemporary perspective, positions them as agents of change. This is why AY4F aims to cultivate a space where young people can embrace scientific knowledge about Africa’s forests to understand their own role in shaping the future governance of forests, share their concerns with experts and society, and seize opportunities from an evolving bioeconomy.

Project goals:
1. Communicate cross-disciplinary, accessible knowledge to African youth about the continent’s forests – their status, trends and roles for livelihoods.
2. Support young people to define their roles in sustainable forest conservation,
management, and use in Africa.
3. Strengthen young people's agency in policy dialogues to make their voices heard on topics related to sustainable forest governance.
