Short summary
Exploring how nature-based therapies and green care programs can grow to help more adults improve their mental health and wellbeing, while also supporting healthier communities and environments.
The project will run for four years and aims to gather more knowledge about how nature-based interventions can make a difference, as well as help more people use nature as a resource for health and care.
GreenME views green care as something that can take place at several levels — from having access to green spaces in everyday life, actively participating in nature activities like gardening or conservation work, to receiving nature-based treatment for mental health issues.
By working together with researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and local stakeholders in different countries, the project participants want to identify the opportunities and challenges involved. They will also develop guidelines and training programs to help more people offer nature-based care and build supportive systems — both at the EU level and in individual countries.
The goal is to create fair, sustainable, and healthy societies where nature is a natural part of the solution for improving mental health.
