Short summary

Land2Value aims to promote the transition to a circular bioeconomy in the ÖKS region through cross-border cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The starting point is the agricultural sector's potential as a supplier of biomass and the industry's growing need for sustainable energy products, feed and bio-based materials.

Land2Value's primary target group are SMEs in the agricultural, food and energy sectors, such as feed producers, bioenergy producers, food producers, agricultural cooperatives and land-based fish farming companies. Advisors, municipalities, regions and educational institutions will also be involved in order to spread knowledge and enable conditions for the transition.

Land2Value wants to demonstrate possible ways to achieve more sustainable land use, increased circularity of biomass from agriculture and the development of an infrastructure of local biomass hubs, where biomass is collected, processed and refined into circular products that meet market needs. In this way, local resource flows can be improved, actors in the area can be linked together and a platform for innovation, increased resource efficiency and strengthened long-term preparedness can be built up.

Through close collaboration with industry actors, Land2Value will support the development of a number of potential biomass hubs, which can become frontrunners and serve as sources of inspiration and practical examples. Land2Value will also contribute to the development of innovative bio-based products in circular flows (TRL 4-6) that demonstrate the practical value of biomass hubs.

Through active knowledge dissemination and policy influence, the project aims to create both pressure from below (practitioners who want to take action) and support from above (decision-makers who enable the transition). Land2Value utilise the results from a number of previous studies, research and development projects and brings them closer to the market.

Land2Value coordinates knowledge and experience from Denmark, Sweden and Norway to jointly find ways to utilise biomass from agriculture in the transition to a circular economy. At the end of the project, new models for land use and local biomass hubs, innovative bio-based products and a strong cross-border network and collaboration are expected to strengthen the conditions for increased self-sufficiency, climate benefits and competitiveness in the ÖKS region.
