Short summary

Although most Swedish fish species are considered viable, overexploitation has led to depleted populations. The project maps priority species and habitats, their current status, and the restoration measures needed.

Most fish species in Sweden are considered viable according to the Species Data Bank, but several have been overexploited, which has led to depleted stocks. To enable the regrowth of these species, various types of restoration measures are required. This involves both interventions that directly affect fish stocks, in particular the regulation of fishing, and long-term management of important habitats. The Restoration Ordinance highlights a number of fish species and habitats as particularly prioritized. This project describes these species and environments, their current status and the restoration efforts that are needed.
